Can male cats be turned on be female human?

I have an orange male tabby between 4-6 months old. is it possible for him to be ually excited by me? I wonder if that seems werid but I did see him umm get errect after petting him once. I mean all cats pur, he purs like all the time and I was wondering if he likes me more cuz I'm female? does he know I'm female? do I have a certain cent? anything like that? and no I am not a perv, jus real curious. He's been living with me and my friend for 3 weeks now
