7 week old barley sleeping during the day, is this normal?

My son at that age was sleeping quite a bit, but we have had a constant struggle with putting him down to sleep because the minute he isnt feeling mom or dads touch he wakes up. So he is very spoiled so we hold him until he falls asleep and we let him get into a deep deep sleep and carefully put him to bed and we keep our hand on him if he starts to wake up, its a slow process but its working. Maybe you should try holding him until he gets into a deep sleep and slowly transition him into his bed, my son also sleeps better in his car seat so we are trying to transition him from that to his bed. I also think as long as he is eating well and is alert then he is probably ok, just try to help him stay asleep by getting him a soothing toy that plays music or sing to him. Good luck :)
