Is "online" a word??

Spellchecks everywhere rebel against the word "online." Today, so many people use "online" as opposed to "on-line" or "on line." Why can't it just be accepted as a real word already?? Come on Microsoft, cut me some slack! Ok, laugh at me. I just want to save the extra keystroke!
